Welcome to Hoitoasiantuntija Wei !
This is my story.
Photo: My work in China
My nursing career began in 2012 in Beijing, China. I worked in both international and private hospitals for four years. At 25, I felt a strong desire to explore the world beyond China and challenge myself further.

In 2016, I came to Finland. Since my medical degree from China wasn’t directly recognized, I undertook 1.5 years of additional studies and officially became a registered nurse in Finland in 2017.
After graduation, I left the small town of Lahti and moved to the Helsinki metropolitan area to start my nursing career. Although clinical work felt familiar thanks to my previous experience, language remained a major challenge. I spent my free time learning Finnish intensively. Over time, I gained confidence and became more comfortable in my work.

In autumn 2018, I was accepted into the Master’s program in Health Business Management at Metropolia University of Applied Sciences. During this time, I had the unique opportunity to participate in an interdisciplinary training course at CERN (European Organization for Nuclear Research). This experience deeply inspired me and strengthened my commitment to making a difference in healthcare.

After completing my master’s, I dreamed of starting my own home care company. However, I lacked specialist nursing experience in Finland. In 2022, I joined Finland’s specialized healthcare system to gain hands-on experience and deepen my theoretical foundation.
From 2021 to 2025, I completed four continuing education diplomas in wound care, stoma care, perioperative care, and palliative care — each program worth 30 credits. These studies, combined with daily practice, gave me the tools and experience I needed.

As the studies ended in 2025, I had planned to take a break and continue working at the central hospital. But my health began to deteriorate. I was diagnosed with metabolic disorder, bowel syndrome, and spinal cysts (recovered already). My family urged me to stop night shifts after I nearly fainted twice due to abdominal pain.
That’s when I made the hard but necessary decision to start my own company. This is why you are now reading my story on this website.
I believe nursing is more than a profession — it is a calling.
I want to use my own methods to care for patients, give back what I’ve learned, and serve society with a compassionate heart. Despite differences in background, language, or ethnicity, my dedication remains unchanged.
Starting a company in Finland as a Chinese woman is not easy. But I’m ready. With passion and respect for humanity, I want to make a positive difference — even if it’s just a small one — in people’s health and quality of life.
